Meet our Founder: Matt Gamache, PhD
One thing I learned during my PhD is that coral research is much more than diving on beautiful reefs—it requires skills like project management, leadership, and collaboration across scientists, restoration practitioners, local communities, and policymakers. Unfortunately, these skills often take years to develop, and they are often learned the hard way.
I started Reef Unity Network to help students and early-career researchers build those skills sooner. Through coaching, group productivity sessions, and an open community page, researchers can ask questions, share ideas, and promote their work in a safe, supportive environment.

Who We Are
Reef Unity Network is an online community where coral reef researchers can learn and practice professional skills while connecting with others in a supportive, low-stakes environment. Our vision is to develop its members into effective and impactful leaders that can advance coral restoration outcomes.
What We Offer
Guided Mentorship
Advance your coral research career by working with a coach one-on-one to target and practice the professional skills relevant to your interests, experience, and career stage.
Community Support
Collaborate, troubleshoot, and network organically with other coral reef researchers during our live Group Work Sessions or asynchronously in our Community Forum.
Research Showcases
Increase your work's visibility, practice your communication skills, and collaborate with peers by sharing your work regularly at our monthly Research Showcases instead of waiting for conferences, publications, or interviews.
